The extension building of the Lynar Grammar School in Berlin-Spandau was created within the IZBB program* and is also a substitute for the temporary location of mobile containers in which the class rooms are situated. The new building consists of four floors and is built opposite to the main school building - the former location of the preschool building.

The rooms for the all-day care and the canteen for the supply of food for the pupils are located on the ground floor. The library, the staffroom, the classrooms as well as the group and separated rooms for the different school levels that are used for the first school years are located on the three upper floors. The integration of the all-day schooling shall begin with the start of the school year 2010 / 2011.

*IZBB (Zukunft Bildung und Betreuung) is a capital investment program of the Federal Republic of Germany and a federal measure to support the Federal State in building up and expanding all-day schooling in Germany. Compared to other countries, the school system in Germany consists almost exclusively of half-day schools.
