The IZBB program* supports financially the district in its conversion from half-day schooling to full-day schooling. For such system change spatial expansion and restructuring of the existing buildings are necessary. Therefore, additional classrooms for special school subjects, food supply rooms and all-day attendance rooms are needed.

The Ritterfeld Grammar School building encircles the spaciously arranged square yard. It has been added with a canteen building and is connected to a new attendance area that has also been functionally new structured. The additionally financial support, based on the IZBB program, made it possible to design a terrace in front of the dining room of the canteen and also a playing field that can be used for different ball games.

*IZBB (Zukunft Bildung und Betreuung) is a capital investment program of the Federal Republic of Germany and a federal measure to support the Federal State in building up and expanding all-day schooling in Germany. Compared to other countries, the school system in Germany consists almost exclusively of half-day schools.
